'In Christensen and Jansson's wonderfully rich and sophisticated work, we encounter a powerful new account of cosmopolitanism, at the intersection of mediated communication, space and politics. Steeped in interdisciplinary literature and informed by in-depth empirical research, the book re-thinks the dialectical complexities of cosmopolitan theory and practice with admirable clarity. It is an important intervention not only in media studies but across the social sciences.' Lilie Chouliaraki, London School of Economics and Political Science, UK<p>'We live at a time of great change, when cosmopolitan, nationalistic and religious forces vie for cultural and governmental hegemony and the global economy is being transformed through the successful mobilization of reserve armies of labor. Cosmopolitanism and the Media is an invaluable tour d'horizon of these titanic shifts in the world system. Bravo!' Toby Miller, author of Cultural Citizenship</p><p>'Spatial dynamics has become the new theoretical frontier for media studies. This impressive book widens the horizons of both the concept of cosmopolitanism and the study of the media. It provides a brilliant insight into the lived experiences of people in this world of mobility, and it produces a new ethical outlook and moral framework for the way we communicate with Others in order to discover what can be common between Us. In the end, we realize that a universal cosmopolitanism can only come into existence in the plurality of cosmopolitanisms.' Nikos Papastergiadis, University of Melbourne, Australia</p>
